Once upon a time I asked a client if there was a thread that connected everything he’d done so far, and he told me. Then he asked me the same question. And I realized at that moment that I am a Builder.
What does that mean? Well, whether helping someone to build their career, helping people to build solutions to problems, helping colleagues and clients to build their knowledge, helping people to build customer relationships, or helping clients through building processes, surveys or strategic plans, that’s what I do. I’m a Builder.
I am an organization development professional, coach, writer, facilitator, and photographer. My background includes management experience and a tour of duty as an award-winning recruiter. I have worked in tiny companies and very, very large companies. I help people cultivate creativity and connections in their businesses and their personal lives, resulting in stronger relationships and processes.
I have lived and worked in various parts of the US, and have lived through a variety of personal and corporate changes. I have plenty of experience at starting over, and I know how exciting Change can be – and challenging, especially if it’s not your idea.
I have enjoyed a lot of roles and worked with a lot of people at all levels of organizations in the financial, technology and business services sectors before launching my own business. I’ve had the honor to help individuals, teams, and small, medium and large international companies to improve their lives and businesses through building confidence, building and rescuing relationships, setting and achieving goals, designing, implementing and improving processes, overcoming obstacles, improving communication, and resolving problems.
I’ve collected a lot of tools over the years but the most valuable one, I’ve found, is Curiosity. A Sense of Wonder. Whether I’m asking questions or taking photographs, I try to figure out why things work the way they do and help people look at things in new ways.
Only by asking questions can I know which tools you’re going to find most helpful. To find out more about some of those tools and the services I offer, please click the Services tab above or click here. And keep following my blog! That will tell you a lot about what I do and how I think. And I hope you’ll tell me what you think, too!
My goal is to apply my proven skills as a builder of relationships and solutions to help you to achieve your goals – or set them, if that’s where you are. Especially when there is a problem to be solved or a comeback to be made.
What else can I tell you? I have a cat, I’m a widow, and I was diagnosed in 2010 with Spasmodic Dysphonia (which affects my speaking voice but doesn’t – as people will tell you – keep me from talking). I love bicycling and birdwatching and making things, and writing about all of that and more.
